Qualified for Crufts 2007

Bracken is an enigma! So pretty she should adorn the front of a chocolate box, but she's all Border Collie and likes nothing better than playing football. Not caring much for the limelight of the show ring, although she went Best Puppy in Breed (10) at Chertsey under Jo Ratcliffe and got a 3rd at Southern Counties in her youth, now a Veteran, I decided to show her again and she qualified for Crufts 2007 winning Veteran Bitch at Bath, first time out.

Bracken's greatest triumph has been as a brood bitch – she simply adored her puppies and did them fantastically well. She had wonderful litters, sired by Sheltysham Shepherd Boy, Sh.Ch. Whenway Royal Highlander, Sorcerers Apprentice at Shepherdspal and Bellatrix Highlander, CDex, UDex. Among her children are four multiple championship class winners: Foxbarton Could Be, Foxbarton The Magician, Foxbarton Flash Harry and Foxbarton Royal Lion JW, a wonderful tricolour boy, who has now established himself successfully at stud.

Bracken was also bred by Julia Dickenson, from the same line as my Willow, whose dam, Hawkesmere Echo, was Bracken's Grand-Dam. Bracken's Foxbarton descendants have accumulated 2 Championship Show Best Of Breeds; 1CC; 6 Res CCs; 5 Junior Warrants; 6 Stud Book Numbers; 3 Show Certificates Of Merit; and a Companion Dog Excellent, between just 6 dogs, that have been shown. It's no wonder that I'm so proud of her.

We lost our gentle Bracken on 21st July, 2013, just short of 15.5 years of age. We miss her dreadfully, but she leaves a host of descendants, including all the puppies sired by her son, Foxbarton Royal Lion JW. Her greatest legacy has to be her sweet temperament, which all the Foxbartons share.
